Jay Bell is the owner and head Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor at Gracie Farmington Valley. Jay began his journey in martial arts at the tender age of 7 years old and never looked back. Since then he has studied a number of different arts ranging from the more traditional styles (Kenpo, Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido) and more recent iterations like Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Krav Maga. Jay found through his journeys in the martial arts that the style is secondary to the individual and that each art has something beneficial to offer. It is up to students to decide which one best suits their needs.
For Jay that style is Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Jay’s goal is to try and break down the complexities of the art into bite-size pieces that are more easily digestible for the average individual that may not have the natural athleticism that some people appear to be blessed with.
Jay has the honor of having many fantastic instructors during his time studying the art of Brazilian jiu jitsu and has now teamed up Marcio Stambowsky and Gracie Sports in order to bring the very best jiu jitsu has to offer to the Farmington Valley.
Belt lineage: White – Brown (Royce Gracie), Black (Marco Delima), currently training under Rob Kahn & Marcio Stambowsky
